WPP Germany announces new President

The new WPP’s president in Germany, stands in a market where Procter & Gamble, Ferrero and Lidl are the main investors in advertising, Nielsen estimates.

WPP announces a new head in the German market and of Frank-Michael ‘FM’ Schmidt, CEO of Scholz & Friends Family is appointed as the first President of its German business.

An estimate values the advertising market based o the brand’s sppending in ideas between January and September of this year, according to Nielsen projections. Procter & Gamble has an estimated investment of one billion euros; followed by Ferrero, with an estimated investment in advertising of 491 million euros; Lidl, 303 million euros; Aldi (Gesamt), 255.7 million euros; Rewe, 244.91 million euros; Edeka, 235.6 million euros; Amazon, 224.2 million euros; Telekom Deutschland 214.07 million euros; Vodafone Deutschland, 169.81 million euros and Sky Deutschland Fernsehen, 167.21 million euros.

New President appointed

WPP announced the arrival of Frank-Michael ‘FM’ Schmidt as the new president of WPP in Germany. The german country with one of the highest investments in advertising and where, based on Nielsen projections, certain brands are the leaders in advertising investment.

I am very much looking forward to opening a new chapter for WPP in Germany, together with some of the brightest minds in our industry”, Schmidt said.

The new corporate head of WPP comes from the executive management of Scholz & Friends Family, ad agency that leaded the shape of the german business, building on agency leadership teams with a unique promotion to the culture of WP.

FM will remain as CEO of the Scholz & Friends Family, to further drive the accounts of VW, McDonald’s, Sparkasse and the Federal Republic of Germany. He is also now part of VMLY&R’s global leadership. He’s been working for WPP since 1998, when he joined J. Walter Thompson, and later became director of strategy for its Germany business. In 2003 he came to Scholz & Friends and with studies in political science, philosophy and communication sciences at the Freie Universität Berlin, he established a career as a journalist, before devoting himself fully to advertising and marketing.
