Squid Game 3 premiered this Friday and is already generating buzz among Netflix users. The series, which has become the most-watched on the streaming platform, has reached its ending. Many questions were answered, but others remain, such as who the VIPs are and how this twisted elite group came to be.

The final season of the Korean series gives little information about them, but their faces are finally revealed, and we see more involvement from these “luxury guests.” Here’s everything we know about their origin and purpose in the games.

Who are the VIPs in Squid Game?

In the dark world of Squid Game, the VIPs represent the most perverse side of power and wealth. This exclusive group of billionaires has been behind the games for over three decades, secretly funding all 33 editions of the gruesome tournament. They were clients of Oh Il-nam, the elderly creator of the game, and share his twisted vision of human entertainment.

When the games reach their final rounds, the VIPs travel to the island where everything takes place—not just as spectators, but as key figures in the show. Always wearing elaborate golden animal-shaped masks, these men conceal their identities not just out of vanity but to ensure total impunity for the atrocities they witness and promote.

Their involvement goes beyond funding: they bet huge sums of money on the lives or deaths of the players and take pleasure in others’ suffering. Thus, the VIPs not only embody the dehumanization of the system but also serve as the driving force that keeps the bloody machinery of the game alive.

What do the VIPs’ masks mean in Squid Game?

The animal-shaped masks worn by the VIPs are not just extravagant accessories—they are a clear symbol of their loss of humanity. Each mask represents their predatory nature, as if they were beasts lurking in the shadows while enjoying a hunt.

By covering their faces, they erase any sign of emotion or moral conscience, allowing them to act with complete coldness and without remorse. This anonymity reinforces their role as sinister figures, detached from the pain they cause.

Who are the VIP actors in Squid Game?

Although their faces were hidden throughout most of the series, their identities were revealed near the end. These are some of the actors:

  • Lion mask VIP: John D. Michaels
  • Buffalo mask VIP: Daniel C. Kennedy
  • Deer mask VIP: David Lee
  • Panther mask VIP: Geoffrey Giuliano

What happens in Squid Game 3?

The series picks up right after Seong Gi-hun is captured by the guards, following a revolt he organized to reach The Leader and put an end to the sinister games once and for all. Gi-hun is taken back to the room with the other contestants, and the games continue… becoming more sinister and inhumane.

One by one, the players die, and amid the chaos and desperation to survive, Kim Jun-hee’s daughter, player 222, is born. Now, both she and Gi-hun do everything in their power to protect her in an environment where no one hesitates to eliminate a defenseless baby.

Meanwhile, detective Hwang Jun-ho, brother of The Leader, finally reaches the island where the violent challenges take place—not before discovering that Captain Park was the traitor. The Leader is warned, orders the immediate evacuation of the island, and activates a self-destruct button. Upon entering, the detective finds his brother, who decides to take the baby and escape. Before Hwang Jun-ho can stop anyone, the island is destroyed, wiping out any trace of the games.

Who wins Squid Game 3?

The winner was the newborn, daughter of Kim Jun-hee, who, after her mother’s death, was protected by Seong Gi-hun, as everyone else wanted to eliminate her. In the end, Gi-hun sacrifices himself and gives the victory to the baby.
