If you were one of those who got hooked on Squid Game, we have good news for you. The hit Korean series that became a phenomenon on Netflix is now crossing borders and heading to North America. The finale of the third season revealed what everyone was hoping for: the continuation of the story… but outside of South Korea. Get ready for Squid Game United States. Will there be a Squid Game United States version?
Everything seems to indicate yes! If you’ve already seen all of season 3, you likely paid special attention to one of the final scenes. After the island was destroyed, The Leader traveled to Los Angeles, United States, to deliver all of Seong Gi-hun’s money to his daughter, who died during the games.
On his way back, he witnessed a game of ddakji in the street… but it wasn’t just any game. It was a recruiter, played by none other than actress Cate Blanchett, giving us our first glimpse of what’s to come for the franchise.

So far, Netflix has not made any official announcements; however, since October 2024, several international media outlets have reported that the platform is already developing a U.S. version of the hit series, to be directed by David Fincher and written by Dennis Kelly.
This version wouldn’t be an adaptation, but rather an extension of the original, so both stories are expected to be connected. For now, we just have to wait for Netflix to release an official statement.
When will Squid Game United States premiere on Netflix?
If this U.S. version is produced, the first episodes could arrive on the streaming platform by late 2026 or sometime in 2027, depending on filming and production schedules.

Although the official plot is still unknown, everything suggests that the story will introduce a new set of deadly games set in the United States. Social criticism is expected to remain a key element, addressing issues such as economic inequality, a broken healthcare system, and the obsession with success.

It’s still unknown which actors will star in this new version or whether any characters from the Korean series will appear alongside the American ones. The only thing that seems certain for now is the participation of Cate Blanchett, who would play the role of the recruiter.

Who wins Squid Game 3?
The winner was none other than the newborn, daughter of Kim Jun-hee, who, after her mother’s death, was protected by Seong Gi-hun, as everyone else wanted her eliminated. In the end, Gi-hun decides to sacrifice himself and give the victory to the baby.
What happens in Squid Game 3?
The series picks up right after Seong Gi-hun is captured by the guards following his attempt to start a revolt and confront The Leader to finally end the sinister games. Gi-hun is returned to the room with the remaining players, and the games continue… becoming increasingly sinister and inhumane.
One by one, the players are killed, and amidst the chaos and desperation to survive, Kim Jun-hee’s daughter, player 222, is born. Now, both she and Gi-hun do everything possible to protect her in an environment where no one will hesitate to eliminate a defenseless baby.
Meanwhile, Detective Hwang Jun-ho, The Leader’s brother, finally makes it to the island where the violent challenges are taking place, only to discover that Captain Park was the traitor. The Leader is warned, orders an immediate evacuation, and activates a self-destruct button. Upon entering, the detective finds his brother, who decides to take the baby and escape. Before Hwang Jun-ho can stop anyone, the island is destroyed, erasing all traces of the games.
