Many shocking things were revealed during the final episodes of the second season of Wednesday. One of them was precisely one of the questions that many had since the beginning of the series starring Jenna Ortega: where is the rest of Thing‘s body, and how did he end up with the Addams family? Well, the mystery has finally been solved, and now we know his story. Want to know? We tell you here.
Where is the rest of Thing?
In episode 8 of part 2, the dark origin of Thing, the iconic hand-shaped character, is finally revealed. Far from being just a magical creature, Thing has a past deeply connected to the villain Isaac Night.

As shown in a key sequence, it was Morticia Addams who cut off Isaac’s hand before his death, and it reanimated, becoming Wednesday’s loyal companion. A visual detail also confirms that Thing has always been an anagram of “Night,” hinting at this twist from the beginning (bet you didn’t see that coming!).
During a crucial moment in the forest, the Nights manage to deceive Wednesday and capture Thing. It’s then that Isaac reveals his missing hand and, upon finding Thing, tries to reattach it to his body; however, his victory is short-lived.
The Addams intervene just in time, and Wednesday, along with her family, pleads with Thing to come back to them. This triggers an intense battle between Isaac and the hand, where surprisingly, the hand prevails and wins. In a final act of bravery, it manages to rip out Isaac’s mechanical heart, defeating him. Free once again, Thing escapes from his former master’s corpse and returns to his true family: the Addams.
Who is Isaac Night in Wednesday?
We already mentioned that Thing is actually the hand of Isaac Night, but who is this character and where did he come from? If you haven’t yet seen part 2 of Wednesday season 2, here’s his backstory to help you understand.
Long before the events in Wednesday, Isaac Night, a brilliant student at Nevermore, designed a machine to cure his sister Francoise, a Hyde. He built the device in Iago Tower and asked his roommate, a young Gomez Addams, who still had electrical abilities, for help. Gomez agreed, unaware that the experiment would cost him his life, as Isaac had hidden the fact that the machine would absorb his vital energy.
When the process began, Morticia intervened to save Gomez, destroying the machine in the process. The explosion killed Isaac and left emotional wounds that would resurface years later with the return of the Nights.
In part 1 of Wednesday season 2, you may recall that Pugsley went to search for a tree in the forest to find the grave of a scientist with a metal heart. Suddenly, he accidentally triggers an electrical discharge and, unintentionally, revives the scientist, who rises from the ground as a zombie.
With the name Slurp, the zombie became Pugsley’s pet, but he began consuming every brain he found, slowly regenerating until he returned to his human form, revealing his true identity: Isaac Night.

Francoise, who had been presumed dead, was freed from captivity, and it is revealed that she is Tyler’s mother, the Hyde. Now both are free, and the entire Night family is finally reunited. Tyler thinks his uncle wants to save his mother, but discovers that the real plan is to use the machine on him to erase his identity as a Hyde.
To restart the experiment, Isaac kidnaps Pugsley and connects him as the energy source. Wednesday infiltrates the tower and finds Tyler, who begs her to kill him. Instead, she frees him. His transformation into a Hyde unleashes the necessary chaos to destroy the machine and save Pugsley. Isaac dies… for the second time.
Will there be a third season of Wednesday on Netflix?
Yes! Last July, Netflix confirmed it is already working on season 3 of the series; however, it did not reveal the release date. Given the production and filming timeline, it’s believed that the new episodes could arrive on the streaming platform in 2026 or 2027 — so you have plenty of time to binge the first two seasons!
