“We wanted to build something that felt fun and indulgent, but also welcoming and local,” says co-founder and CEO Chris Milton. “People come here to celebrate, catch up, or just eat something they can’t make at home.”
The History of The Toasted Yolk Café
In 2010, during a casual church conversation, Chris Milton and a lifelong friend made a life-changing decision: to leave their careers and open the kind of restaurant they always wished existed in their community. They weren’t looking to create another greasy spoon or generic diner—they wanted something different. A fun, flavorful, and comforting brunch spot where friends could gather, families could linger, and everyone could still make it home by dinner. That idea became The Toasted Yolk Café, which soon turned into a daytime dining phenomenon in the U.S.
As brunch grew in popularity as a casual social alternative to dinner, The Toasted Yolk found its niche in modern life. The first location opened successfully, and although growth was slow at first—the second didn’t open until 2014—franchise inquiries started rolling in by 2016. The first franchise opened in 2018, marking the beginning of rapid expansion.
What makes The Toasted Yolk stand out isn’t just its culinary offerings, but also its operational model. The restaurant is designed for today’s lifestyles, benefiting both guests and staff. The menu caters primarily to suburban customers, with a mix of creative, indulgent, and health-conscious options. A full bar with brunch cocktails also helps drive customer traffic and increase per-visit spending. Today, the brand delivers more than just eggs and coffee—it offers memorable experiences, a vibrant atmosphere, and a new way to enjoy daytime dining.
The Toasted Yolk Café Hours
The Toasted Yolk follows a “brunch-only” model, operating from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.—perfect for modern lifestyles. This short shift boosts productivity, supports work-life balance for staff and franchisees, and allows locations to host private events in the afternoon and evening, creating a flexible and people-centered concept.
