So far this year, the FDA has recalled several popular Super Bowl foods due to concerns about consumer safety. Here are some of them:
Chicken Taquitos
Last month, Aldi reported recalling about 25,000 pounds of Casa Mamita chicken and cheese taquitos across 31 states due to potential metal contamination.
According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), a consumer reported finding a metal piece in the frozen chicken and cheese taquito product. Another consumer informed the FSIS that they had suffered a dental injury from the product.
The affected product was sold at selected Aldi stores in the following states:

Turkana is recalling 858 cases of its tahini paste, which is commonly used in sauces like hummus and baba ganoush. The recalled product comes in a 16-ounce plastic jar with lot number 120824-01 and an expiration date of August 2026.

Empanadas
Empanadas are one of the most consumed foods during the Super Bowl, but a few weeks ago, Walmart had to pull chicken curry empanadas from its stores because they actually contained apple and cinnamon empanadas with milk, which was not declared on the packaging and could pose a potential allergen risk.
Nuts
Recently, the FDA issued a warning about Pecan Star and Nut Corp pecans, as they may contain undeclared tree nuts, putting consumers with allergies at risk.
As a result, the company recalled 7,920 bags of “Greenwise Organic Pecan Halves” in 8-ounce plastic packages, with lot number 0000018228 and expiration date of April 23, 2025.
The affected product was sold in eight states:
