
The 2000s are back at Taco Bell! Fans of the chain can relive the fun of that golden era with the return of an iconic virtual game that will make you feel just like back then. It’s Crunchkin, the brand’s very first digital pet. Here’s how you can play it again.
What is Crunchkin, Taco Bell’s digital game?
This digital pet is inspired by the chain’s iconic menu items. It’s a companion you’ll have to take care of and feed — but that’s not all! It also rewards you as you play and level up.

How to play Crunchkin?
The Crunchkin game will be available for a limited time and can only be accessed by Taco Bell Rewards members. As you play and participate, your Crunchkin grows, evolving with qualified menu purchases and giving you access to exclusive mini-games within the app, challenges to earn extra points, and the chance to unlock rewards.
Players who manage to fully evolve their Crunchkin will enter a raffle to win a limited-edition capsule, packed with products inspired by the 2000s.
When can I play Crunchkin?
The game will be available starting September 9 and you’ll be able to enjoy it until October 6, 2025.
Taco Bell brings back 2000s menu items
The popular Tex-Mex fast-food chain also announced the long-awaited return of several 2000s favorites, letting you enjoy your old-school meals once again — but only for a limited time. It’s the Decades Y2K Menu, which includes five of the most popular items from that era, all priced at $3 or less.
The nationwide launch is scheduled for September 9. Here are the Y2K favorites you’ll get to enjoy again:
- Cool Ranch Doritos Locos Tacos ($2.49): The original tortilla is replaced by the crispy, tangy Cool Ranch Doritos shell, filled with seasoned beef, lettuce, and cheddar cheese.
- Double Decker Taco ($2.49): A soft tortilla filled with beans, wrapped in a crunchy shell, and filled with seasoned beef, lettuce, and shredded cheddar cheese.
- 7-Layer Burrito ($2.49): Refried beans, seasoned rice, low-fat sour cream, guacamole, lettuce, tomato, and a three-cheese blend, all wrapped in a flour tortilla.
- Chili Cheese Burrito ($2.99): Chili and cheddar cheese wrapped in a flour tortilla.
- Caramel Apple Empanada ($2.99): A crispy, golden crust filled with warm apple chunks and a creamy caramel filling.

What is Taco Bell Rewards?
It’s the company’s loyalty program, where customers can earn 10 points for every $1 spent through the restaurants or the mobile app. These points can later be redeemed for various rewards, such as menu items, including tacos, burritos, and drinks.
Members of the rewards program will also receive special offers, exclusive promotions, and early access to new products. When you sign up, you’ll receive a free item as a welcome gift. To redeem your points, simply log in to your account in the app, go to “My Rewards,” and select the reward you want to redeem. Then, tap “Redeem” to add it to your cart and complete your order.
