The day has finally arrived! The wait is over, and with the release of Squid Game 3, fans have finally discovered how the series that has captivated the entire Netflix community ends. However, the truth is that the finale left more questions than answers. That’s why we’re here to explain what happens in the final episodes of the hit Korean series. If you haven’t watched it yet—beware of spoilers!
What Happens in Squid Game Season 3?
The season picks up right after Seong Gi-hun is captured by the guards, following his attempt to start a riot in order to reach the Front Man and put an end—once and for all—to the sinister games. Gi-hun is taken back to the room with the remaining players, and the games continue… growing increasingly cruel and inhumane.

One by one, the players die. Amid all the chaos and desperation to survive, Kim Jun-hee, Player 222, gives birth to a baby girl. Now, both she and Gi-hun do everything in their power to protect the newborn, in an environment where no one hesitates to eliminate a defenseless baby.
Meanwhile, Detective Hwang Jun-ho, the Front Man’s brother, finally makes it to the island where the violent challenges take place—not before discovering that Captain Park was the one betraying them all.
Who Wins Squid Game Season 3?
Surprise! No one saw it coming, but the winner turned out to be none other than Kim Jun-hee’s newborn daughter. After her mother dies, the baby is forced to take her place as Player 222.
Ending of Squid Game Season 3, Explained
The final episode of Season 3 left many unanswered questions. Instead of closing the story, it hints at the possibility of more to come. After Kim Jun-hee’s death, Seong Gi-hun takes care of her baby, who now becomes the new Player 222 at the VIPs’ request. In the final game, only nine players remain, including Gi-hun and the baby. They’re told to eliminate three more, and the remaining six would share the prize money.
Greed takes over, and the players start killing each other. In the end, only Gi-hun and the baby are left. To save her, Gi-hun sacrifices himself, making the baby the sole winner of the grand fortune.

While all of this unfolds, Detective Hwang Jun-ho arrives on the island with the Coast Guard. The Front Man is warned and orders an immediate evacuation, activating a self-destruct mechanism before fleeing. The detective finally manages to enter the facility and sees everything inside. He discovers his brother—the leader of the organization—who grabs the baby and escapes. Before the detective can stop anyone, the island is destroyed, wiping out all evidence of the games.
The series jumps forward a few days. Now in the United States, Gi-hun’s daughter receives her late father’s fortune from the Front Man. As for the baby, she is left in the care of the detective.
Everything seems to indicate that the games are over… until a familiar sound echoes on the street: the ddakji game. The Front Man, on his way back, opens his car window and sees a new recruiter—none other than Cate Blanchett—playing (and slapping) a potential new contestant, revealing that the games were never really destroyed.
