The summer is about to end, and fall is just around the corner, which means several restaurant chains have already started to update their menus. One of them is Sonic, which has just announced the launch of a new menu that will make you feel all the fall flavors. Here’s what it includes and when it will be available.
What’s included in Sonic’s fall menu?
Sonic has decided to give pumpkins a break and opt for other seasonal ingredients. To do so, they’ve created two new items:
- Salted Caramel Toffee Iced Coffee: A cold coffee combined with salted caramel and buttery toffee. It’s served over Sonic’s exclusive ice and topped with creamy cold foam and crunchy salted toffee bits.
- Salted Caramel Croissant Bites: Golden, flaky pastries dusted with a mix of caramel and sugar.
How much does the Sonic fall menu cost?
You can find the new menu items at the following prices:
- Salted Caramel Toffee Iced Coffee: $2.99 for 20 ounces.
- Salted Caramel Croissant Bites: 4-piece pack for $1.99.
When will the new fall menu be available?
They’re available now! You can order them exclusively through the mobile app. They will be available nationwide starting September 1st.
History of Sonic Drive-In
Troy Smith was born and raised in rural Oklahoma during the Great Depression, where he worked various jobs, including milk delivery, oil field labor, and as a mechanic. However, he was always looking for new opportunities to advance in life. In 1948, he and his wife Dollie moved to Shawnee, Oklahoma, and opened their first restaurant, the Cottage Café.
Over the years, he managed several other establishments, but it was in the small root beer stand with a drive-in that he operated alongside his restaurant, The Log House, where he discovered the most profitable business. In 1953, he decided to focus on the drive-in, which he named Top Hat, marking the beginning of what would eventually become Sonic.
Charlie Pappe, a businessman from Woodward, Oklahoma, with an interest in the restaurant industry, visited the Top Hat drive-in in 1956 while traveling through Shawnee. Impressed by the business, he contacted Troy Smith, and together they decided to collaborate to expand the restaurant. After opening three more Top Hat locations, they realized they couldn’t continue growing under that name due to copyright issues.
Taking advantage of the slogan “Service at the speed of sound,” they changed the drive-in’s name to Sonic. During the 1950s and 1960s, the Sonic brand experienced significant growth, with Smith and Pappe making deals with local entrepreneurs in the open market to expand the chain.
How many Sonic restaurants are there in the United States?
Currently, the fast-food chain has more than 3,500 locations across 47 states in the United States.
