Nintendo knows RPGs hold a special place in players’ hearts, and 2025 is shaping up to meet expectations. One of the biggest announcements was Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection, the third installment of the series that blends turn-based strategy with monster bonding and a narrative centered on a war between two kingdoms. Although officially dated for 2026, its announcement has already generated high anticipation.
Meanwhile, FINAL FANTASY TACTICS – The Ivalice Chronicles arrives on September 30 with a version for Switch 2 and another for the current console. This edition enhances visuals and adds fully voiced dialogue to once again tell the complex story of ambition and betrayal in Ivalice.
OCTOPATH TRAVELER 0, a prequel to the acclaimed HD-2D series, launches on December 4 and introduces, for the first time, a customizable protagonist and more than 30 recruitable characters. Another RPG gem is Persona 3 Reload, arriving on October 23 with its iconic blend of school life and supernatural combat.
Among the fresh new offerings is The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales, an HD-2D action RPG from the creators of OCTOPATH TRAVELER. The game is slated for a 2026 release, with a demo available starting today.
Also revealed was Hela, an adventure game inspired by Scandinavian folklore where players take on the role of a tiny mouse in a handcrafted world. Featuring co-op gameplay and non-linear exploration, it’s set to launch in 2026.

Sports fans also have plenty to look forward to. EA SPORTS Madden NFL 26 debuts on Switch 2 with enhanced realism thanks to the new “QB DNA” system and dynamic weather conditions. The title will be available on August 14, with early access for those who purchase the Deluxe Edition before August 7.
Likewise, EA SPORTS FC 26 kicks off on September 26, featuring narrative Manager challenges, improvements based on community feedback, and cross-generation compatibility. It will launch on both consoles, reaffirming EA’s commitment to Nintendo’s hybrid platform.

One of the most buzzed-about titles is Star Wars Outlaws, the first open-world experience in this iconic franchise. Set between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, players will explore planets, fight enemies, and make moral decisions as Kay Vess. Its release is scheduled for September 4.

Additionally, Once Upon A Katamari revives the quirky gameplay of rolling up objects to rebuild the universe, now featuring online multiplayer, character customization, and a story spanning multiple eras. Its release is scheduled for October 24.
What’s new from Nintendo in music and simulation genres?
The highly anticipated Just Dance 2026 Edition launches on October 14 with 40 new tracks, including hits by ROSÉ & Bruno Mars, Dua Lipa, OneRepublic, and Madonna. You can play solo, in Workout Mode, or with up to six players in local multiplayer.
On the other hand, the relaxing simulator Chillin’ by the Fire is already available for Switch 2. This game lets players build and maintain campfires in various settings while enjoying the calm either solo or with friends — and even appear in-game using a USB-C camera.
