What is type 1 diabetes?
According to Mayo Clinic, type 1 diabetes is a chronic condition in which the pancreas produces little or no insulin. The disease, also known as juvenile diabetes or insulin-dependent diabetes, typically appears during childhood or adolescence, although it can also manifest in adulthood. It has no cure, so treatment focuses on managing blood sugar levels through insulin supply and maintaining a healthy diet and lifestyle.
