Like banks and other government offices, the United States Postal Service will not operate that day. However, Priority Express Holiday Mail and same-day package delivery will still be available. FedEx and UPS have announced that they will provide regular service.

What is Juneteenth?
June 19 marks the end of slavery in the United States, a date known as Juneteenth. While President Abraham Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation on September 22, 1862, during the Civil War, not all states complied immediately.
Texas, one of eleven slaveholding states, ignored the decree for nearly three years. It wasn’t until June 19, 1865, that Union General Gordon Granger arrived at the port of Galveston, Texas, to officially announce the end of the war and that all enslaved people were free. Since then, the date has become a symbol of freedom and justice.
If June 19 falls on a Saturday, the holiday is observed on Friday; if it falls on a Sunday, it is observed on Monday. Today, Juneteenth is both a day of reflection and a celebration that honors the resilience and struggle of the African American community.
