This competition, organized by the famous Japanese kawaii brand, not only serves to choose the most beloved character but also reinforces the global affection for the company’s endearing creations such as Hello Kitty, Cinnamoroll, Kuromi, Pompompurin, Keroppi, My Melody, among many others.

How many characters participated in the Sanrio 2025 ranking?
For the 2025 edition, 90 Sanrio characters competed to win the hearts of the public. From the iconic Hello Kitty to emerging characters or lesser-known classics, this diversity reflects the enormous creative wealth the brand has built over decades.
In total, more than 63.1 million votes were received for this edition of the Sanrio Character Ranking 2025.

Who won the Sanrio 2025 ranking?
The big surprise this year came from Pompompurin, who was crowned as the most popular Sanrio character in 2025. This is the first time since 2019 that Cinnamoroll, the cute white puppy with long ears, did not claim the top spot.
With over 5.6 million votes, Pompompurin conquered the global audience, surpassing traditional favorites. This friendly yellow dog, famous for his brown beret and love for desserts, finally managed to snatch first place from Cinnamoroll, who had dominated the competition in recent years.
Although Cinnamoroll did not take first place this year, his popularity remains intact. The adorable winged puppy ranked second place with 5.4 million votes, only 200,000 fewer than Pompompurin.
The charismatic and rebellious Kuromi, an icon for those who prefer a more alternative style within the kawaii universe, managed to hold on to the fourth place in the 2025 ranking. Meanwhile, Hello Kitty, Sanrio’s legendary ambassador and one of the most recognized icons on the planet, came in fifth place.
