What is Netflix’s Gringo Hunters about?

Beyond the chases, the series stands out for the deep camaraderie among its protagonists. The result is a story that not only entertains but also thoughtfully portrays the cultural complexities between Mexico and the United States.

Yes. The series is inspired by true events and an article published in The Washington Post.
What are the Gringo Hunters?
The investigation by The Washington Post reveals the existence of the International Liaison Unit, a specialized group of Mexican police officers whose work has largely remained in the shadows. Created in 2002, this unit operates discreetly, avoiding attention, with the mission of locating and capturing foreign criminals hiding in Mexico to evade justice in their home countries.
Journalist Kevin Sieff first reported on this work in 2022, when he published the story of an American man suspected of murder who had fled to Mexico. Thanks to this group, informally known as the Gringo Hunters, the fugitive was captured and handed over to the U.S. authorities.
Since its inception, the International Liaison Unit has collaborated with agencies such as the FBI to deport more than 1,600 fugitives, including millionaires involved in financial fraud and highly dangerous criminals.
Where was Gringo Hunters filmed?
The series was filmed in Tijuana and Mexico City.
