What is the Dairy Queen Blizzard?
The Dairy Queen Blizzard is one of the most popular and beloved desserts from the chain. It’s a thick shake made with a base of smooth, creamy ice cream that’s mixed with a variety of ingredients and toppings. What makes it so special is its texture, which is dense enough to be served in a cup—and it doesn’t spill when they turn it upside down!

History of Dairy Queen
The first Dairy Queen store opened on June 22, 1940, in Joliet, Illinois, under the direction of Sherb Noble. In 1953, the chain took its first step toward international expansion by opening its first location in Canada, specifically in Estevan, Saskatchewan.
Known for its smooth and creamy ice cream, Dairy Queen offers a wide range of flavors that can be enjoyed in cones, cups, and other options. Over time, the company expanded its menu to include milkshakes, smoothies, and the popular Blizzard treats, which combine their soft serve with different ingredients.
In addition to its signature desserts, Dairy Queen also offers a variety of fast food items, such as burgers, fries, and hot dogs. Today, the chain has over 6,000 locations in the United States, Canada, and more than 20 countries worldwide.
