Conor McGregor’s Long List of Scandals
The former UFC champion has been involved in numerous scandals. Recently, he was spotted getting affectionate with a woman on a beach in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Witnesses said he appeared close to a dark-haired woman in public, smiling, handing her a towel, and embracing her.
Months earlier, he was convicted in Ireland for a rape case that was settled with a payment of nearly €200,000. McGregor is also facing legal action in the U.S. over an alleged sexual assault at the Kaseya Center, home of the NBA’s Miami Heat.
Who Is Conor McGregor?
Born July 14, 1988, in Dublin, Ireland, Conor McGregor is one of MMA’s most iconic figures. He rose to fame between 2015 and 2016 after becoming UFC champion in two different weight classes—a historic achievement. Raised in Crumlin, a working-class area of Dublin, McGregor began boxing at 12 and later moved into kickboxing and MMA. Although his parents initially encouraged a plumbing career, he left that path to pursue professional fighting.
After debuting in 2008, McGregor racked up fast wins and titles, becoming known for his brash personality. In 2015, he knocked out José Aldo in just 13 seconds to win the UFC featherweight title. The following year, he made history again by holding two UFC belts at the same time.
In 2017, he stepped into boxing to fight Floyd Mayweather Jr. in a high-profile bout. Despite losing, McGregor reportedly earned around $130 million and gained even more global fame.
After a series of injuries and retirements—plus a serious leg break in 2021—McGregor was expected to return to the UFC in 2024 to face Michael Chandler. However, the fight was abruptly canceled, reportedly due to injury, casting more doubt on McGregor’s future in the sport.
