After closing all of its physical stores a few months ago to focus on the digital market, Beyond Inc., owner of the brand, has announced that physical stores will be reopening. According to Marcus Lemonis, Executive Chairman and CEO of Beyond Inc., approval has already been given to reopen a store in Nashville. The company also plans to open at least four Overstock stores.

Why did BuyBuy Baby close its stores?
At the end of 2024, the baby product retailer announced the closure of all its physical locations, citing shifting consumer demand and a plan to redefine itself as a fully digital brand.
In February of this year, the brand was acquired by Beyond Inc. for $5 million. Beyond also operates Bed Bath & Beyond, a brand that was once part of BuyBuy Baby. The goal now is to return BuyBuy Baby to its original growth partner.
Despite a nearly 40% year-over-year decline in net sales during the first quarter and a 21% drop in active customers, the average order value on the website rose by over 12%. This encouraged Beyond Inc. to implement a restructuring plan aimed at increasing revenue, which includes reopening physical locations.
