Do you have an American Express account? Then this information is for you, as the company announced important updates this Monday that will directly affect both consumer and business Amex Platinum Cards. Here’s what’s changing.
What are the updates to the Amex Platinum Card?
The Amex Platinum Card was introduced by American Express and has since provided unique benefits and experiences to thousands of users. Now, the company plans to refresh the services included with this card, offering more options across various categories.

“Platinum Card benefits and services resonate across generations, particularly with Millennials and Gen Z who accounted for 35% of total U.S. consumer spending last quarter. We’re going to take these Cards to a new level—not only in what they offer in travel, dining, and lifestyle benefits, but also in how they look and feel—to meet the evolving needs of our customers,” said Howard Grosfield, President of U.S. Consumer Services Group.
American Express continues to lead in premium travel experiences by offering more airport lounge options than any other credit card issuer in the market. Currently, cardmembers have access to over 1,550 airport lounges in more than 500 airports worldwide. Additionally, the company plans to expand its network with three new Centurion Lounge openings in 2026: in Newark (New Jersey), Salt Lake City (Utah), and Tokyo (Japan), bringing the total number of these exclusive lounges to 32.
But American Express isn’t stopping at airports. It also continues to invest in high-end dining and hotel experiences. Through Resy, its reservation platform, users can access over 20,000 restaurants in more than 30 countries. The recent acquisition of Tock will add 7,000 new venues, including restaurants, wineries, and unique culinary spaces.
In the hotel sector, American Express offers exclusive benefits to its members through Fine Hotels + Resorts and The Hotel Collection, which together include 2,600 hand-picked properties and are continuing to grow in key destinations.
When will the Amex Platinum Card updates arrive?
According to a company press release, the updates to the Amex Platinum Card will roll out by the end of this year. Additionally, the company noted that more updates will be announced in fall 2025.
