So far, neither his family nor Netflix have provided further information about Borella’s death; however, local media reported that the assistant production director collapsed during filming of the series in Italy.

According to reports, the production was preparing a scene for the fifth season of the series at the Hotel Danieli in Venice when he suddenly collapsed in front of the entire crew. Emergency personnel arrived at the scene to try to revive him, but Borella had no vital signs and was declared dead around 7:00 PM local time on Thursday, August 21.
The cause of death has not been disclosed, but doctors suggested that the assistant director may have suffered a sudden heart attack. Following the incident, filming for the fifth season of Emily in Paris was suspended and resumed on Saturday, August 23.
