
On the afternoon of this Monday, a tragedy occurred at one of the Target stores located in Austin, Texas, where a man carried out a shooting that claimed the lives of three people; several others were injured. Here’s everything we know about the attack.
What happened at the Target in Austin, Texas?
At a press conference, Lisa Davis, Chief of the Austin Police Department, reported that around 2:15 p.m. local time, police received a call alerting them to a shooting in the parking lot of a Target store.

Officers immediately arrived at the scene, where they found several people injured. The shooter was present at the location, and upon seeing the police, he stole a car from the parking lot and fled. Later, he crashed the vehicle and stole another one, but was arrested by police in a residential neighborhood located 18 miles from the crime scene.

Through his official X account, Austin Mayor Kirk Watson stated that authorities continue to investigate the incident and described the attack as a repugnant and cowardly act of gun violence.

Victims of the Austin Target shooting
According to authorities, three people died during the attack. Two of the victims were pronounced dead in the store’s parking lot, while another was transported to the hospital, where they later died due to the severity of their injuries.

According to the Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services, at least four more people were injured during the shooting, including a child. At this time, the condition of the victims is unknown.

Who is the Austin Target shooting suspect?
Austin police stated that the suspect in the shooting is a 32-year-old white male, who was wearing khaki shorts and a Hawaiian or floral shirt. According to authorities, the detainee has an unspecified history of mental health issues. The motive behind this bloody attack is still under investigation.
