Is the video of the orca killing its trainer Jessica Radcliffe real?

What's behind the video of the orca attacking and killing its trainer Jessica Radcliffe at a place called Pacific Blue Marine Park?

VIDEO ORCA MATA A SU ENTRENADORA

In recent hours, Google searches related to “video orca trainer killed“, orca, whale, who is Jessica Radcliffe, have skyrocketed. The reason: a video circulating on TikTok, Facebook, and other platforms, in which an orca supposedly attacks and kills a trainer identified as Jessica Radcliffe at a place called Pacific Blue Marine Park.

The scene has caused shock, outrage, and fear among users worldwide… but is it real? The answer is NO. And below we detail the story behind this clip.

What does the viral video show?

The clip, which lasts less than a minute, shows a trainer interacting with an orca in what appears to be a marine show. Within seconds, the animal supposedly lunges at her, dragging her underwater and causing her death. The footage includes sounds and voice-overs narrating the incident, giving it an air of authenticity that has led many users to share it without questioning its origin.

On TikTok, Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), and YouTube, the video has garnered millions of views and reactions, being labeled by some as “shocking” and “proof of the dangers of working with marine animals.” However, a detailed review reveals something very different.

Who is Jessica Radcliffe?

One of the key steps in verifying the authenticity of any event is to confirm the identity of the people involved. In this case, there are no official records, prior news reports, or real profiles confirming the existence of a trainer named Jessica Radcliffe.

Searches in public databases, social media, and international news outlets yield no credible results about this person. There are also no newspaper articles, press releases, or official statements from any marine park reporting her death.

Where is Pacific Blue Marine Park?

Another piece of the puzzle is the supposed location of the attack: Pacific Blue Marine Park. A search on Google Maps, tourist directories, and official records shows that there is no marine park with that name anywhere in the world. No country has reported an accident of this type in marine life facilities in recent years, reinforcing the suspicion that this is a fictional setting.

Have there been real cases of orca attacks?

Yes, although far less frequently than many believe. The most well-known case is that of Tilikum, an orca that in 2010 killed trainer Dawn Brancheau at SeaWorld Orlando. Unlike the current viral video, this event was documented by international media, authorities, and eyewitnesses, and led to investigations and changes in marine mammal performance regulations.

The key difference is that real cases leave a verifiable trail: news reports, official statements, interviews with family members and witnesses, and legal or administrative consequences. None of this exists in the case of Jessica Radcliffe.

How to verify if a viral video is real?

Fact-checkers recommend following these steps before sharing material circulating on social media:

  1. Look for the news in reputable outlets: If no trustworthy media report it, it is likely false.
  2. Analyze the visual content: Spot flaws in movement, lighting, or proportions.
  3. Verify the existence of the people and places mentioned.
  4. Use reverse image search tools to track the video’s first appearance.
  5. Check the date and context: Many viral videos are old footage or edited to appear current.
