This week finally brought what everyone was waiting for: the premiere of Wednesday Season 2 on Netflix. The new season welcomed back many beloved characters from the first season, but one of them was noticeably missing. Did you catch who didn’t return? The absence of Percy Hynes White didn’t go unnoticed by fans, and there’s a reason behind it. Here’s everything we know.
What was Percy Hynes White’s role in Wednesday?
The Canadian actor portrayed Xavier Thorpe, a psychic and love interest of Wednesday. Xavier is passionate about painting and has the ability to bring his artwork to life. Why is Percy Hynes White not in Wednesday Season 2?
In January 2023, allegations surfaced on X (formerly Twitter) accusing Percy Hynes White of drugging minors with the intent of abuse during parties in Toronto. Although no conclusive evidence was presented, his public image was seriously damaged. In response, the actor released a statement on Instagram to share his side of the story and deny the accusations.
In the post, he claimed that photos of him with underage individuals were taken out of context and used alongside examples of him portraying an unlikeable character, asserting it was all false. However, a year later, he announced that he would not return for the second season of Wednesday.
What happens to Xavier in Wednesday Season 2?
(Spoiler alert!) If you haven’t seen the first part of Season 2 yet, here’s what happens to Xavier following the actor’s departure.
After the unfounded murder accusations in the previous season, Xavier’s father sends him to study at Reichenbach Academy in Switzerland. His family also withdraws financial support from Nevermore Academy, causing Xavier to lose his place on the fundraising committee. Before leaving, he says goodbye to Wednesday by sending her a letter and a drawing he made of a red-eyed raven—the very same one that follows Wednesday everywhere and is involved in the murders occurring in Jericho.
