Since its premiere on Netflix on June 20, the series Olympo has been a resounding success, becoming one of the most-watched shows on the streaming platform in several countries. Here’s what we know so far.

Will there be a Olympo season 2 on Netflix?

So far, Netflix has not confirmed whether there will be a second season, but some media outlets specializing in series and films have recently reported that the platform has already greenlit a new installment. This wouldn’t be surprising, as the series has performed well: it garnered 3.2 million views worldwide within seven days of its release and is in the top 10 of the most-watched series in 46 countries. Given its success, there is a strong likelihood that it will be renewed for a second season.

Moreover, the final episode left the door open for the story to continue and explain what happened to Amaia after the competition. (SPOILER ALERT!) At the end of the first season, the series reaches its darkest moment. The athletes, physically and emotionally drained, compete under doping allegations, which cast doubt not only on their integrity but also on the true intentions of the organization behind the tournament. Amaia, overwhelmed by isolation, her mother’s pressure, and recent developments in her environment, makes an extreme decision to stay in the competition and achieve victory at any cost.

Meanwhile, Zoe Moral, Roque Pérez, and Cristian Delallave discover that Amaia was right: Olympo hides far more dangerous secrets than they imagined, prompting them to expose the truth about Jana, Iker, and Hugo. However, they face a new challenge: Amaia no longer seems interested in revealing anything.

Although she had been disqualified, Amaia manages to step on stage with Nuria and delivers a stunning performance. The audience and her mother celebrate, but her friends, who know the truth, watch her with sadness and disappointment. Just at the climax, Amaia loses consciousness and falls into the water. Was it the same fate as Nuria’s? Will she survive?

The answers could come in a second season, though for now, we must wait for Netflix to make an official announcement.
