CATE BLANCHET SQUID GAME 2025 (12)

Squid Game, also known worldwide as El Juego del Calamar, has returned to Netflix with its third and final season, and as expected, the ending has sparked controversy. One of the topics that has generated the most conversation and become a trending search is the prize amount, which this time reaches 45.6 billion won, a figure that has raised the curiosity of many: how much money does that amount really represent in Mexican pesos and US dollars?

How much are 45.6 billion won in Mexican pesos?

According to the current exchange rate as of June 27, 2025, provided by Google, the 45.6 billion won are equivalent to 631,583,083.50 Mexican pesos, that is, more than 631.5 million pesos.

And in dollars, how much is the Squid Game 3 prize?

The fortune at stake in Squid Game 3 has also been calculated in US dollars. According to the same exchange rate as of June 27, 2025, 45.6 billion won are equivalent to 33,487,798.27 dollars, that is, just over 33.4 million dollars.

Who won the 45.6 billion won prize in Squid Game 3?

The big winner of this third season was not exactly the protagonist Gi-hun, better known as Player 456, although his story remains the central thread of the series.

Super Spoiler Alert!

Player 456 decides to sacrifice himself so that the baby, son of Kim Jun-hee, Player 222, becomes the last survivor and, therefore, the official winner of the game.

The VIPs, the millionaire organizers of Squid Game, in a gesture as twisted as it is symbolic, decide that the baby inherits his mother’s place and is considered a participant. Thus, the little one becomes the holder of the 45.6 billion won prize, which is deposited in a bank account.

How does Squid Game 3 end on Netflix?

The final season of Squid Game begins right after the brutal rebellion in season two, which ends with the execution of Gi-hun’s friend at the hands of the game leader, who infiltrates as another player.

With only 60 participants remaining, the ruthless hide-and-seek game begins, leading to the death of Hyun-ju, the trans player, and Seon-nyeo, the loud shaman player 044. It also marks the tragic fate of a mother who, in order to protect her friend and newborn baby, kills her own son.

Later, only 25 players advance to the jump rope game, where extreme physical conditions claim more victims, including the recent mother who, unable to compete, decides to throw herself into the void.

Finally, only nine participants face the feared Squid Game in the Heights, where they must cross three towers, eliminating at least one person on each to advance. In the climax, only Gi-hun, the baby’s father, and the baby survive. In an act of sacrifice, 456 decides to take his own life so that the baby is declared the winner.

What happened to the other characters at the end of Squid Game 3?

The series dedicates an extensive epilogue to show the fate of the key characters:

  • The policeman, brother of the game leader, arrives at the island just as the organizers escape, and sees his brother taking the baby winner, unable to stop him.
  • The North Korean defector Kang No-eul, infiltrated among the guards, manages to escape alive and embarks on the search for her missing daughter, after exposing the organ trafficking network behind the games.
  • The reunion of Kang Sae-byeok’s mother, a season one participant, with her young son is facilitated by a mysterious benefactor.
  • In Los Angeles, 456’s daughter, Seong Ga-yeong, receives her father’s tracksuit and a bank card from the game leader, containing the remaining prize money he won in season one.

What does Cate Blanchett’s final cameo in Squid Game 3 mean?

In the final minutes of the series, the host, now in Los Angeles, hears two people playing Ddakji in an alley, the same game used by recruiters to lure new participants. To everyone’s surprise, the recruiter is played by actress Cate Blanchett, who, after slapping the player, exchanges a look of complicity with the game leader and nods.

The scene leaves an unsettling feeling and opens the door to a series of theories. Will there be Squid Game 4? When is the Squid Game movie coming out? These questions have become trending searches.

For now, you won’t find the answers on Google. Only time and Netflix will tell.
