While the main character of the series is Lee Jung-jae in his role as Seong Gi-hun, in Squid Game 3 other characters took on greater relevance, such as Player 222, whose tragic ending moved all the fans of the story. But who is she, and why did she end up in these sinister games? We’ll tell you.

Who is Player 222 in Squid Game 3?

Originally, Player 222 is Kim Jun-hee, played by actress and singer Jo Yu-ri, known for being a member of the K-pop group IZ*ONE. Jun-hee is the ex-girlfriend of Lee Myung-gi, Player 333, and decides to join the games to pay off her debts. It’s soon revealed that she is pregnant, and part of the prize money would go toward raising her baby.

(SPOILER ALERT!) In the final stretch of the series, Kim Jun-hee injures her ankle and is unable to participate in the penultimate game, which leads to her elimination. The VIPs watch everything on a screen and, to heighten their perverse and twisted enjoyment, decide that the baby must take her place as a contestant, thus becoming the new Player 222.

Who wins Squid Game 3?

The winner was none other than the newborn baby, daughter of Kim Jun-hee, who, after her mother’s death, was protected by Seong Gi-hun, as everyone wanted to eliminate her. In the end, Gi-hun decides to sacrifice himself and gives the victory to the baby.

What happens in Squid Game 3?

The series picks up right after Seong Gi-hun is captured by the guards, following his attempt to lead a riot to reach The Front Man and end the deadly games once and for all. Gi-hun is returned to the room with the other competitors, and the games continue… increasingly cruel and inhumane.

One by one, the players die, and amid all the chaos and desperation to survive, Kim Jun-hee’s daughter, Player 222, is born. Now, both she and Gi-hun do everything they can to protect her, in an environment where no one will hesitate to eliminate a defenseless baby.

Meanwhile, Detective Hwang Jun-ho, the Front Man’s brother, finally makes it to the island where the brutal challenges take place, not before discovering that Captain Park was the traitor. The Front Man is warned, orders an immediate evacuation, and activates a self-destruct button. Upon entering, the detective finds his brother, who decides to take the baby and escape. Before Hwang Jun-ho can stop anyone, the island is destroyed, erasing all traces of the games.

Will there be a Season 4 of Squid Game?

The ending of the third season was left open, suggesting the possibility of a new season. In the final episode, the story jumps ahead a few days and is no longer in South Korea, but in the United States, where Gi-hun’s daughter lives. The Front Man delivers her late father’s prize money. As for the baby, she is left in the care of the detective.

Everything seemed to indicate the games were over… until, on the street, the familiar sound of the ddakji game is heard. The Front Man, now returning, rolls down his car window and sees a new recruiter (none other than Cate Blanchett) playing (and slapping) a potential new contestant—revealing that the games were never truly destroyed.

This leads many to believe a fourth season is coming. But before you get excited, we regret to inform you that Netflix has already confirmed that this was the final season and there will be no more seasons of the Korean series. However, the series creator, Hwang Dong-hyuk, has stated that a spin-off is being discussed and may happen.
