Stop Everything! Fast food fans are in for a treat, as Carl’s Jr. will celebrate Burger Day with an amazing deal: burgers for less than one cent! Fans of the popular chain can enjoy this beloved dish at a spectacular price. But before you get too excited, you should know the promotion won’t be available at all locations. Here are the details.

Where Will Carl’s Jr. Offer Burgers for Less Than a Cent?

As much as we’d love for this deal to be available across the United States, the promotion is only valid at Carl’s Jr. locations in Mexico, where the company has been running this campaign since 2017 to celebrate Burger Day.

How to Get a Carl’s Jr. Burger for Less Than a Cent

If you’re willing to cross the border to take advantage of this promotion, here’s how to redeem it—it’s very simple:

  • On May 28, 2025, visit a Carl’s Jr. restaurant in Mexico.
  • Purchase any combo meal.
  • After ordering your combo, get a Famous Star with cheese for just 1 peso (about $0.052 USD).

The promotion is only valid on that day and applies to dine-in, takeout, and drive-thru orders. It does not apply at airport locations or with kids’ meals.

A Brief History of Carl’s Jr.

Carl’s Jr. began in 1941, when Carl and Margaret Karcher bought a small hot dog cart in Los Angeles. Thanks to their entrepreneurial spirit, they expanded to four hot dog stands within a few years. In 1956, they took a major step by opening the first two Carl’s Jr. restaurants.

During its first 15 years, the brand was known as Carl’s Jr. Drive-In Barbecue, and its visual identity reflected the mid-20th-century aesthetic. The original logo was a vertical sign featuring the brand’s name topped with a large star.

This monochrome, triple-outlined star sat above a black banner displaying “Carl’s” in all caps. Beneath that, a second, trapezoid-shaped sign read “Drive-In Barbecue” in white letters. In 1956, the name was simplified to Carl’s Jr., marking the beginning of a long visual evolution. Over the years, the logo underwent several updates, leading to the modern and recognizable brand image we know today.

When Is Burger Day?

Burger Day is celebrated annually on May 28.

Why Is Burger Day Celebrated?

This day is dedicated to honoring the iconic burger and enjoying its irresistible mix of flavors. It’s a time to celebrate the global popularity and incredible versatility that have made the hamburger a favorite across countless cultures.

The Origin of Burger Day

It is believed that on May 28, 1900, Louis Lassen, a German immigrant living in the U.S., served what is considered the first hamburger at his restaurant. He created it in response to a customer looking for a quick and tasty meal. From that moment, the dish quickly rose in popularity.
