Levi Strauss will no longer sell Dockers! What will happen to the brand?

Levi Strauss & Co. announces it will stop selling its iconic Dockers khaki pants, brand sold to Authentic Brands Group for around $311 Million. If you’re a fan of this clothing line, here’s what will happen to the brand after the sale and why the decision was made.

What Will Happen to the Dockers Brand After the Sale?

Authentic plans to unlock new opportunities for Dockers by leveraging its global network of more than 1,700 licensed partners, with a strategic focus on innovation, omnichannel development, and international expansion. The company is currently in advanced discussions with regional operators in Latin America, EMEA, and Southeast Asia to facilitate the transition and expand Dockers’ current operations in these markets.

Why Did Levi Strauss Sell the Dockers Brand?

According to Michelle Gass, President and CEO of LS&Co., the sale of Dockers further aligns the company’s portfolio with its strategic priorities—focusing on its direct-to-consumer approach, expanding international presence, and investing in opportunities within women’s lifestyle and denim categories.

“After a robust process, we are confident that we maximized the value of the business and that Authentic is the right organization to usher in the next chapter of growth for the Dockers brand. We thank the global Dockers team for their strong commitment and execution to building the brand, which continues to be the authority on khaki,” she said in a statement.

Thanks to this agreement, LS&Co. is strategically positioned to solidify itself as a top-tier omnichannel retailer, while driving Levi’s evolution from an iconic jeans brand into a broader lifestyle leader in denim, and strengthening the growth of Beyond Yoga.

The transaction is still subject to customary closing conditions. It is expected to be completed around July 31, 2025, for the transfer of intellectual property rights and Dockers operations in the United States and Canada, and by January 31, 2026, for the remaining international operations. Additionally, LS&Co. will provide Authentic and its partners with certain transitional services for a limited period to ensure a smooth handover of the brand.

History of Levi Strauss & Co.

The story of this legendary company dates back to 1852, when Levi Strauss, a Bavarian immigrant, established a modest dry goods business in San Francisco during the California Gold Rush. He soon realized that workers needed extremely durable garments suitable for physical labor. In collaboration with tailor Jacob Davis, he designed the first denim pants reinforced with rivets, giving birth to the original “blue jeans” in 1873. Today, we still refer to them simply as jeans.

This style of clothing was quickly adopted by miners, cowboys, rebels, rock stars, and even presidents—men and women who were looking not only for functional workwear but also everyday clothing with character.

Levi Strauss & Co. has grown into one of the world’s largest apparel companies and is a global leader in jeans manufacturing. It operates approximately 500 stores worldwide, and its products are sold in over 100 countries.
